Celebrate 9-9-09

Monday September 7, 2009

If you’re a fan of numerology, perhaps you have some sort of theory as to why Wednesday’s date of 9/9/09 carries some sort of otherworldly significance. We’ll just use it as a midweek excuse to hit the town.

Sel de la Terre’s Back Bay location will transform its bar into Cloud 9 on Wednesday for its “09/09/09 Party,” featuring $9 cocktails, nine bar menu items for $1 each, and music from the 90’s. Of course, it’s also a perfect day to check out No. 9 Park or 9 Tastes in Harvard Square. Maybe even enjoy a Magic Hat No. 9 at your favorite watering hole, and hit up your local cinema for the debut of Tim Burton’s “9” or a showing of “District 9.”

You could even watch Red Sox wives dress to the “nines” at the “From Fenway to the Runway” fashion charity event at the Natick Collection, or purchase the entire Beatles’ re-mastered catalog, to be released on Wednesday, and listen to “Revolution No. 9.”

If nine is your lucky number, be aware that another day like this won’t come along for another 1,000 years. On the other hand, 10-10-10 is but 13 months away.
