Coming to Boston for this weekend's Head of the Charles? We apologize in advance.
Some portions of Massachusetts today were greeted with some early morning snow, and the forecast for the weekend calls for rain and wind with temperatures only reaching the high 40's. It's not exactly the most desirable weather for rowing along the Charles River.
The Head of the Charles committee said today that it is monitoring the weather, and still anticipates two full days of races to take place this weekend. With the worst weather predicted for today, it did, however, warn competitors that their practice schedules may be affected.
As of now, anticipated road closures are as follows: Memorial Drive from Cambridge Boat Club to Western Avenue on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., as well as JFK Street to Eliot Street on Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. If needed, any revisions to traffic patterns, practice times and schedules will be posted online at www.hocr.org and at all launching sites, local boathouses, and HOCR Information Booths at the regatta.
