While forecasters seem to have little definitive clue as to whether or not Hurricane Earl will make landfall in New England later this week, Massachusetts officials have already begun to preach hurricane safety to residents of the Commonwealth.
The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security lists of preparation tips, including what to include in a disaster supply kit, how to stay communicated in the case of an emergency, and evacuation steps. Power company NSTAR pledged to increase the number of workers and staff in order to respond to any possible power outages that may come from Earl's tropical winds.
In preparation, be sure to keep an eye on the tracking models at NOAA.org, which can help give some warning as to when and where Earl may hit in New England. Odds are that while southeastern Mass. should see some hurricane-force winds on Friday, that the state won't get hit with a full-on hurricane. But paths can shift at any moment, so it's imperative to stay up-to-date with the latest information.
