From ethnic festivals to the Patriots training camp, August is annually a month filled with drama and anticipation in Boston, where the autumn months come on as quickly as the onrush of college students. Savor the final, full month of summer by checking out some of these events.

Patriots training camp

Tom Brady and Co. get back to work in Foxboro, looking to redeem themselves from last February’s Super Bowl loss to the Giants. Early session practices are free and open to the public. The Patriots open the regular season at Tennessee on Sept. 9.
Circus Smirkus
Aug. 12-13, 2012, $20 adults, $16 children
The popular, national youth traveling circus takes over Revere's Beachmont School to perform four shows during its two-day stop in the area.
Boston Restaurant Week
Aug. 19-24 and 26-31, 2012
Twice every year, the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau presents Boston Restaurant Week, a period during which patrons can enjoy some of the finest restaurants in the city at discounted prices. At participating restaurants, diners will have the opportunity to purchase two-course lunches for $15.12, three-course lunches for $20.12 and three-course dinners for $33.12.
August Moon Festival
Aug. 12, 2012, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Celebrate Chinese culture with this annual event in Boston's Chinatown neighborhood, featuring food vendors, martial arts performances, lion dances and more. Free.
Boston Children's Festival
Aug. 21, 2012
Bring the entire family and a picnic to Franklin Park for a full day of arts and crafts geared toward kids. Free.
