The final stop on the Freedom Trail is in Charlestown, where the Bunker Hill Monument
towers above the neighborhood. Here, the first major battle of the American Revolution was fought on June 17, 1775, the day when Colonel William Prescott allegedly said, "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes." There are 294 steps leading to the monument’s summit, providing an unparalleled view of the city.
