Boston Events, Week of April 14 – 20

  • Black Grace Dance Company
    What: The Boston debut of Black Grace Dance Company, which blends Samoan, Maori, and contemporary dance.
    When: Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18
    Where: Boston University Tsai Performance Center, 685 Commonwealth Ave, Boston
    Cost: $32 - $50
  • Boston Swan Boats Open
    What: The 131st season of the popular attraction in Boston's Public Garden opens for the season. The Swan Boats take you on a leisurely 15-minute ride around the Public Garden lagoon.
    When: Saturday, April 19
    Where: Boston Public Garden lagoon
    Cost: $2.75 adults / $2 seniors/ $1.25 children (2-15)
  • Women's Olympic Marathon Trials
    What: More than 150 elite female marathoners will participate in the 2008 Women's Marathon U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
    When: Sunday, April 20 at 8 am
    Where: The race starts on Boylston St. at Fairfield St. and finishes at the Boston Marathon finish line in front of the Boston Public Library in the Back Bay.

  • 2008 Boston Marathon
    What:The 112th Boston Marathon, the world's oldest annual marathon.

    Where: Hopkinton, Mass., to Copley Square, Boston
  • 2nd Annual Cambridge Science Festival
    What: This nine-day festival sponsored by the MIT Museum celebrates science and technology with something for everyone, including live presentations, a science carnival, live performances, and more. See event website for details.
    When: Saturday, April 26 – Sunday, May 4
    Where: Various Cambridge locations
    Cost: Most events are free.
  • Greek Independence Day Parade
    What: A parade through downtown Boston, part of Boston's Greek Heritage Month celebration.

    Where: Boylston Street to Boston Common

  • Orchestra National de France
    What: The Orchestra National de France, led by Kurt Masur, performs Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 with pianist David Fray.
