Father's Day 2007
Places to Dine and Things to Do with DadThere are plenty of places you can take your dad this Father's Day. Maybe he'd enjoy sailing on the Charles River, a trip to one of the city's many museums, or a tour of Fenway Park. But here are a few places in Boston offering special Fathers Day meals and activities.
- Father's Day on Georges Island
This Father's Day, dads—accompanied by a fare-paying child— can take a free ferry ride to Georges Island. The 25-minute ferry ride also stops at Spectacle Island, which reopened to the public last year. On Georges Island families can explore a fort, climb to the highest point in Boston Harbor, or simply enjoy the beach. There will be two free performances by POP Stars, a seven-piece all father band who perform songs such as "Spilt Milk" and "Baby on the Way" at 12:15 pm and 2 pm. Fathers will also receive a free dessert at the Captain Flye Café.
Spectacle Island has a new "green" visitor's center with a cafe and exhibits about the island. Picnic and outdoor activities will be ongoing, so bring along a Frisbee.
Harbor Island Express boats leave from Long Wharf every hour on the hour, 9 am to 5 pm. The event is sponsored by Island Alliance, partnered with Harbor Islands Express, Captain Flye Cafe, Boston Harbor National Park Service and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Sunday, June 17, 9 am to 5 pm; concerts at 12:15 pm & 2 pm
$12 adults, $7 children ages 3 11, under age 3 free.
