Founded in 1873, St. Leonard's Church is the first Roman Catholic church in New England built by Italian immigrants. The Peace Garden is a lovely spot to take a time-out from the city and enjoy a moment of quiet contemplation. In addition to the garden, the church is known for the Saint Anthony Shrine in the church basement, the oldest shrine dedicated to the saint in Boston.
Next stop: St. Stephens Church. Continue walking up Hanover Street.
